Q: I have a minimum carat weight of a morganite. It is pear shaped and per my measurement, it is a 14 x 8. Which wire basket ring casting would you recommend for this stone?

I think I would choose the 12 x 8 pear shape. The reason for this is the placement of the prongs on the ring setting. You have more "fudge room" on the length than the width. You can probably hide that extra millimeter of length at the top and bottom and you already have the correct width, which is a critical measurement with this casting. You didn't give me the depth of the stone. Morganite is often cut deeply for added color but you said it was minimum carat weight so I'm assuming it's not a deep cut. As with any pre-notched setting, you often have to gently move the prongs out a bit in order for the stone to drop in. You should be able to tell if the setting will work with the stone before you attempt to set it.

Hi Pauletta! What you need to do first is choose your metal type and stone size. You chose an 8 x 5 pear stone size in sterling silver. Then you have to choose your finger size. If you need a stock size that is listed and in stock, then just select that size and add it to your cart. If you need a custom finger size, then select custom size and then type the finger size in the text box. For example, if you need a custom size 10, select custom size and then type 10 in the text box and add it to your cart. The sizing fee will automatically be added to the price of the ring.
